Sew Technician

Sew Technician at The Gear Fix – Advanced Gear Repair & Customer Service

📍 Location: The Gear Fix // Bend, OR
💰 Pay: $19 - $25 per hour (based on experience)
📅 Schedule: Full-time (4-day work week) must be available at least one weekend day

Do you love working with your hands and bringing well-loved outdoor gear back to life? We’re looking for an experienced Sew Technician to join our repair-focused, sustainability-driven team. If you have advanced sewing and gear repair skills, enjoy problem-solving, and take pride in quality craftsmanship, this is the perfect opportunity to work with like-minded people who believe in keeping gear in action and out of landfills.

 

What You’ll Do:

🧵 Advanced Gear Repair & Sewing

  • Perform high-quality, advanced sewing repairs on a variety of outdoor gear and technical fabrics.

  • Maintain efficient turnaround times while ensuring precision and durability.

  • Troubleshoot complex repairs and determine the best techniques for each item.

💬 Customer Service & Shop Support

  • Assist customers with repair inquiries, DIY project advice, and product recommendations.

  • Process register transactions for repair services and retail sales.

  • Answer phones and emails, handling customer inquiries or directing them as needed.

  • Clearly communicate service timelines, pricing, and repair options.

📦 Service Intake & Processing

  • Assess incoming items and determine appropriate repairs and pricing.

  • Log repairs, ensuring accurate customer and service details.

  • Label and track all service items through completion.

  • Follow up with customers regarding repairs, pricing, and shipping updates.

🛠 Shop Operations & Team Involvement

  • Maintain shop machinery and tools in top working condition.

  • Participate in trainings, audits, and shop meetings.

  • Contribute to cleaning and organizing tasks to keep an efficient workspace.

  • Assist with after-hours clinics and community events as needed.

 

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Advanced sewing skills with experience in gear repair, heavy fabrics, and technical outdoor materials.
✔️ Ability to troubleshoot complex repairs and execute them with precision.
✔️ Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
✔️ Customer service experience and the ability to clearly explain repair services.
✔️ Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-focused shop.
✔️ Availability to work at least one weekend day.

Bike Mechanic

Bike Mechanic at The Gear Fix – Work on ALL Bikes & Keep Riders Rolling!

📍 Location: The Gear Fix (550 SW Industrial Way Suite 183 Bend, OR 97702)
💰 Pay: $21.50-26 per hour (based on experience)
📅 Schedule: Full-time (4-day work week) must be available at least one weekend day

Are you an experienced Bike Mechanic who thrives on problem-solving while working on everything from vintage steel frames to cutting-edge electronic shifting bikes? Our shop services ALL types of bikes and riders, and the learning never stops. If you're looking to take your mechanical skills to the next level while working in an exciting and community-focused environment, we’d love to have you on our team!

 

What You’ll Do:

🔧 Bike Service & Repairs:

  • Diagnose and execute tune packages, wheel truing, spoke replacement, bearing overhauls, tubeless conversions, and rotor truing

  • Install and adjust brakes, shifters, cranksets, cassettes, rotors, derailleurs, and internally routed cables

  • Overhaul bottom brackets, headsets, hubs, and suspension components

  • Write service and consignment estimates that clearly communicate all details to customers and coworkers

💬 Customer Service & Shop Operations:

  • Assist customers with bike parts, racks, accessories, and repair recommendations

  • Manage register transactions and handle inquiries via phone, email, and in-store

  • Intake and assess used gear and consignment bikes, ensuring quality control

  • Accurately log repairs, service details, and estimates

📦 Shop & Inventory Management:

  • Keep workspace, tools, and inventory organized for efficiency

  • Assist in monthly audits, inventory restocking, and shop cleaning tasks

  • Maintain shop tools and machinery

🎉 Community & Team Involvement:

  • Participate in quarterly meetings assist with after-hours clinics and events

  • Keep up with industry trends and emerging bike technologies

  • Be an integral part of a team that values quality, craftsmanship, and outdoor adventure

 

What We’re Looking For:

✔️ Bike mechanic experience with strong repair knowledge
✔️ Ability and desire to diagnose, and repair a wide variety of bikes
✔️ Strong customer service and communication skills
✔️ A team player who thrives in a hands-on environment
✔️ Must be available at least one weekend day
